Welcome to the Town of Jackson
The Town of Jackson is in the central part of Washington County, approximately 3 miles south of West Bend. The Town of Jackson is largely agricultural with residential areas and subdivisions scattered throughout the Town. The Jackson Marsh Wildlife Refuge containing approximately 2,400 acres of land, is located on County Highway G, between State Hwy 60 and Pleasant Valley Road.
The Town of Jackson was incorporated January 21, 1846. It's population per the 2022 census is 4,028. The town surrounds the Village of Jackson on 3 sides. Fire protection is provided by the Jackson Fire Department. Residents can transport garbage and recyclables to the Town Transfer Station with an annual paid permit.
Families in the Town of Jackson send their children to 3 school districts — Cedarburg, Germantown, and West Bend. Sanitary Sewer is provided to some areas by the Village of Jackson's Water and Sewer Department.
The original Town Hall was located on the corner of Hwy 60 and Division Road. This building now houses the Town Garage, Transfer Station, and Recycling Center. The land on Division Road on which the current Jackson Town Hall is situated was originally part of 2 family homesteads consisting of approximately 80 acres. In the late 1950's the building was a private country club. The golf course failed as a business. In the 1970's it was converted to a restaurant which also failed. Shortly thereafter, the bank took over the property and held it until 1980 when the Town of Jackson purchased the property and named it Jackson Country Town Hall and Recreation Center. The complex is now known as Jackson Town Hall and Park.
The town recreation area offers hiking trails, playground equipment, archery range, and 5 baseball diamonds used in the summer months by the Jackson Area Youth Baseball Association. In February, the Boy Scouts of Kettle Country District hold their Klondike Derby and Winterfest on the grounds. The Town Hall Facility is also used for 4-H meetings, American Legion meetings, Jackson Historical Society meetings, and various other meetings. It is also available to rent for events, such as anniversary, birthday, and confirmation parties, etc.
We are proud of our Town and hope you will visit us when you are in the area.
